Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
